HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES

The primary aim of the Health and Human Services (HHS) facet is to address the issue of health disparities among communities of color.  This is done by promoting and facilitating programs that support the maintenance of good health and the elimination of chronic health disparities in communities of color through education, health, advocacy and optimal utilization of health resources. We educate members about health promotion and disease prevention to ensure that we become models of the healthy behavior we hope to promote within our communities.

We are significantly committed to this facet because a number of our Chapter members are in the medical profession.

Signature programs of HHS facet are:

  • Linkages to Life: Organ, Tissue and Bone Marrow Donation Awareness Program

  • Shalom Health Center Health Fair (see photo below)

  • HeartLinks to Heart Health

  • Sickle Cell Anemia Annual Walk

  • Marion County Public Health Department Health Fair

  • Education and Awareness Initiatives on Breast Cancer, Hepatitis, Mental Health Diseases
