Exercise your right to vote on this Election Day!

Updated: Mar 9, 2022

The Circle City Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, encourages you to vote on this Election Day. The President of The Circle City Chapter, Debra Simmons Wilson shares her personal thoughts about this important day:

In the 2012 presidential election, I had to convince my elderly mother to vote. When we arrived at the polling station, my heart sunk because the line was out the door and down the street. I pointed my Mom's wheelchair back towards the car but she stopped me. She wanted to stay in line. She surprised me - she saw so many of her neighbors some elderly, some really young.

I didn't know what it was at the time but something gave her the 2nd wind she needed to stay in line until it was her turn to vote.

Afterwards, I asked her over a cone of ice cream what was the turning point - she stated she remembered when she couldn't vote. I think for a brief moment I had distanced that our access to vote was granted just 50 years ago.

The moral of this story is November 3rd is our chance to stand in line - to make one of the most important decisions we'll make that day. Being a part of a strong collective voting block is comprised of individuals just like you and me. Trust me, candidates still count on various demographic votes to either win or lose. Know before you go - information is available online and in print to help you know the issues and the candidates before you go to the polls.

I plan to make my vote count on November 3rd. Let's make a decisive difference in this election - Stay in Line
